You’re Awake… But Your Body May Still Be Half Asleep
Authored by Doctor JBA
Have you ever woken up on time—
But felt like your body wasn’t ready for the day?
Foggy mind.
Heavy body.
No energy.
Many people blame laziness.
But physiology has another explanation:
Sleep inertia.
A lingering transition state after waking.
It may happen when:
- Sleep wasn’t deep enough
- Sleep was repeatedly interrupted
- Recovery wasn’t completed
You may be awake mentally—
But physiologically, the body may still be emerging from sleep.
And often…
You don’t realize it.
By tracking sleep, you may better understand:
- Deep sleep duration
- Sleep interruptions
- Overnight heart activity
And realize:
It may not be lack of willpower.
It may be incomplete recovery.
